Commercial Technical Support / NumberFormatException with __RequestId
« on: January 04, 2012, 09:47:16 AM »
Hello everybody
We noticed some exceptions in AjaxSwing being concerned with toolkit's internal HTTP request ID. If you have a look on the attached log file, there occured a NumberFormatException when parsing a Long value. From the stack trace and the parsed value it seems that AjaxSwing tried to parse the __RequestId parameter as a number which in this error case has multiple commas in it and therefore can't be parsed.  The exception occurs from time to time causing the user to be kicked out of the application, and we have no idea how to solve that.

Do you have any idea what may cause the problem?

Hello Dev Team
We encountered an unexpected behaviour which costs a lot of time in our application. When we display a table and the user selects a single line in that table, AjaxSwing generates an HTTP request which seems to send the complete table content again. This happens with every single click on a row. There is no listener added to the table, neither a mouse listener nor a list selection listener, and the table is completely read-only. So in general there is no need to communicate with the server at all when selecting a line.

Any idea why this happens? Is there a way around that?

We are working with AjaxSwing 3.2.3. The behaviour occurs with every browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox).

I attached a minimal code sample.

I added a mouse listener to a JList to detact double-click events on items of the list. But when I ask for the currently selected item, I get the wrong selection index from JList.getSelectedIndex oder JList.getSelectionModel.get...SelectionIndex(). I attached a minimal example which works well on Swing.

Any idea what may have gone wrong here?

We are using AjaxSwing 3.1.0 RC1.

Jan

Commercial Technical Support / Button borders not completly invisible
« on: July 06, 2010, 05:21:20 AM »
I just checked AjaxSwing 3.1.0 RC and found a button display problem. We are using borderless buttons to build a menu by our own (we could convince our customer to use the built-in menus from Swing/AjaxSwing). Since 3.1.0 the buttons are displayed with a thin border line eventhow they should have any. See the attached screenshots from the application run on AjaxSwing 3.0.0 final and AjaxSwing 3.1.0 RC.

We have a GUI update problem which can be reproduced with the attached little application. the appications contains a JFrame with a text field and a button which clears the text field's content. When I type something into the text field and press the button afterwards, the text field is not cleared. If I force a repaint between filling the field and pressing the button (e.g. by resizing the frame), the field is properly cleared.

The problem only occurs in AjaxSwing - it all works fine under Swing. Tested with AjaxSwing 3.0.0, 3.0.1 and 3.0.5.

Hello AjaxSwing team
We have a commercial licence of AjaxSwing and I'd like to post support questions in the forum for commercial users. But there is no "NEW TOPIC" button to post a message. Do I have to use a certain dedicated user to access this forum?

Community Technical Support / Release notes for minor updates?

Hello everybody
I'd like to know if there is a release history which documents the changes between 3.0.1 and 3.0.4 versions.

Community Technical Support / List of supported browsers?
« on: September 06, 2009, 03:16:07 PM »
Hello everbody
I'm about writing an article about AjaxSwing and would like to know if there is a list of supported browsers. I just found something general under http://www.creamtec.com/products/ajaxswing/doc/features.html. Is there something more precisely anywhere else?

Community Technical Support / Focus traversal
« on: July 08, 2009, 12:22:50 PM »
Hello everybody
I was wondering if there is a chance to specify the focus traversal in AjaxSwing. Implementing a Swing FocusTraversalPolicy is probably not suitable for a web frontend. Is there something else I could use to define a particular order how the cursor moves between different input fields? I didn't find anything about that in the documentation and in this forum.

Hello everybody
I've seen from other topics that there are quite a few details which are configured by setting client properties on particular swing components (JComponent.putClientProperty). Is there also a way to configure client side validation through client properties rather than deriving deriving component types which implement AjaxSwing's Validatable interface? We follow a generic approach for GUI creation which has the consequence that most details must be configured at runtime.

Maybe the Validatable interface is just piece of convenience to set particular client properties anyway ;-)

Try the following in the SwingSet2 application:
 - Maximize Frame 0
 - Resize the browser window (to force the frame to be properly updated - that's just a work-around for the update bug I posted yesterday)
 - Restore Frame 0 to it's original size

After restore, there lays a gray shadow over the whole desktop pane and all other internal frames seem to lay behind that shadow and don't react on mouse clicks. The situation is cleared after resizing the browser window a second time or by once clicking into the restored Frame 0.

It's the same with all other frames too, of course. Can be reproduced on Firefox 3 and IE 8, so it doesn't seem to be a browser issue.

Community Technical Support / JInternalFrame not updated in resize
« on: June 06, 2009, 06:57:56 PM »
When resizing a JInternalFrame, its content is not properly updated. The update can be forced by resizing the browser window (which probably causes a complete GUI update in AjaxSwing).

The problem is reproducable in SwingSet2: Enlarging "Frame 0" leaves the new visible parts grey. After resizing the browser window, the whole internal frame's background becomes white.

14
I placed a maximizable JInternalFrame in a panel which does not cover the whole browser width (e.g. a panel which makes up the center part of another panel with border layout). When I maximize the frame, its width extends the panel width, causing the right edge to be hidden. This is a nasty thing as the restore and close buttons in the right upper corner are no longer accessible.

It seems that the frame is allways enlarged to be whole browser window width even if there is something in the way on the right or the left. See the attached screenshot.

I am working with JInternalFrames in AjaxSwing and just came across a problem. I have 2 internal frames on a panel which partly overlap. When I click on the one in the background, it is brought to the front as expected. Now a change the browser window size, and the upper window falls into the background again.

Is that a known problem?

Jan
